Look, the WoWification of eve needs to stop.
There are 2 extremes to the world of mmog.
On one side you have the original release of ultima online, best game ever.
Then on the other extreme you have the craptastic pathetic grindfest realm of WoW, that people are addicted to simply because they just dont know any better. Woooo pretty colors. OMG playing games with 8yos is sooo fun. Woot! 'my mmorpg is a rip off of D&D, which is in turn a rip off of LOTR... but i dont know this cuz im 3.'
The farther away you go from UO '98, the more craptastic your game is, plain and simple.
Now i know probably a handful of programmers fresh out of college probably sold someone on this idea, for they needed some project to make their employment seem necessary.
This is a BAD idea, why? Grinding is BORING. Having regions that are better than others gives people a reason to fight for them. Now instead of fighting theyll just find some system in the drone region and recruit isk farmers to "level" the system up for them.
And its not going to help make small gang combat better, undoing all the nerfs you put into place would do that. The only t2 ships i use anymore are stealth bombers, since nothing else has any survivability in null sec in small numbers atm (ok, and maybe intys). Flying a curse around is like saying, Oh hi, please blow up my 200m isk before i even get a chance to do anything, if only it got into warp a little quicker than 2,334 minutes and could align quicker than a fortnight. All the changes youve made to the game over the last 6 months has hurt small gang combat, YOU EVEN NERF'D THE DAMN DIRSCAN, so dont sit there and tell me you want anything other than 1000 man blobs of drakes floating around killing eachother in nullsec. No, this is simply more carebear BS for carebears.
OOHHH but sal, the carebears will defend their structures they are going to build. Right, its just gonna be a borefest of sitting there shooting at something till its dead. Unless your "militaristic upgrades" are going to give them wormhole like super bonuses. WHICH WOULD BE SO EPICALLY LAME. I hope you realize this, but i doubt you can even comprehend what im talking about here. Why? Whats the real problem? I dont think your devs really play this game. Much less pvp. I think, between you me and the virtual stars, that all your devs just go home and play WoW after each day at work. NO ONE, that likes WoW should be coding for this game... fcs..
DO ME A FAVOR: Start a new server with EVE 1.0 running on it, other than the interface upgrades and reduction in bugs/lag, its been all downhill since then.
